Last minute 20 miler...

Today's Workout:
20 miles!!
8:35 pace
22 freaking cold degrees.

I set out to do 10 miles or so.
I ran around and stuff.
Stopped at the grocery store to use the restroom
Note:  the people at the store love when I come in just to use the bathroom.

The route I took was longer than I thought.
I got to 12 miles and was still a mile from my car.
Right there- at 12 miles- I decided to do my 20 miler.

I have been having trouble trying to figure out when I was going to do it.
Our Saturdays for the next few weeks are crazy.
I would have to get up at 3:30am to get it done during the week.

So I called the husband and got the all clear to be gone an extra hour.
Then off I went...

I'll be honest- those last 6-7 miles really sucked.
There was a split second where I considered just sitting on the ground.
Instead I just imagined that I was sitting down...
since it was lightly snowing and sitting on the ground would've been cold.

I feel better having that 20 miles down.
I can do another if I have time, but I feel prepared for the race...
which is just a month away!

The plan for tomorrow is to do 9-10 miles,
to help prepare myself for running on tired legs.
(Good thing the forecast for tomorrow shows 18 degrees- feels like 9!)

Luckily my legs feel pretty great, considering.
Have I mentioned that I think ice baths are awesome?
Because I think they are awesome.

You are awesome sauce, my friend. I've pretty much decided I'm done for a while, so Florida should be interesting, I'm definitely looking forward to the awesome vacation aspect, and trying not to think too much about that whole crazy racing thing beyond hoping that my power walking skills will be good enough:) I make a smiley face, but I'm so not kidding. I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW SOON IT IS!!!

You're so good to do ice baths in the winter! I can't bring myself to do them anymore. Not since I discovered Epsom Salts baths. Warm and still helps with the soreness!
